Signature Pad Interface

The Signature Pad Interface allows users to sign an image document or e-form in real time from within OnBase. Physical signatures are captured from a Topaz Systems Inc. signature pad device and are permanently "burned" directly into image or e-form document types.

Placing a signature on an image document, is as simple as right-clicking a mouse or clicking a toolbar button to initiate the signature capture. This will bring up a simple TWAIN interface in which the image of the user's signature will appear when they scribe it on the signature pad.

Once accepted, the signature becomes part of the original image document, providing a permanent record of the captured signature. In an e-form, each signature is applied, and accepted and becomes permanent when the e-form is saved and becomes read-only.

Application

organisations that have been forced to maintain paper-based processes because of the need for a physical signature can use this module to enhance their paperless initiatives, increasing productivity and efficiency. For instance, organisations that collect signed documents to signify the receipt of product, adherence to policy or verify correctness of other information on the document can now make those documents available electronically and import them into OnBase immediately upon signing rather than maintain paper copies of documents and have them scanned at a later time.

Applications for loans or public assistance, for example, can be displayed to a client electronically. The forms can be signed using the signature pad and be made available to authorized employees or become part of an OnBase  Workflow   immediately upon signing. As a result, services are delivered to the client sooner and the organisation is better able to meet turnaround requirements. A copy of the signed document can be printed out for the client to maintain as part of their records.
