Subscription, Hosting or Failover: What is the Difference?
Subscription Services from OnBase OnLine allow customers to pay a set amount each month for software and hosting. With this option, customers pay a predictable monthly cost rather than make a large capital expenditure. This eliminates the entry costs that may be prohibitive for a small or cash-strapped business. Subscription customers can also quickly add or eliminate user rights to accommodate changes in volume, ensuring that they always have the access they need without overbuying.
Hosting Services from OnBase OnLine allow customers to purchase perpetual licenses for the use of the software while still outsourcing the infrastructure for a monthly hosting charge. While it requires a more significant up-front investment than Subscription Services, the long-term costs will be lower. This solution may be most appropriate for organisations that face infrastructure rather than budgetary challenges. It avoids delays that may be caused by the need to build or upgrade a wide-area network (WAN) to support a widely distributed workforce or by other projects that are monopolizing IT resources. While any data and documents stored and managed by OnBase OnLine can be easily returned, this option makes a potential transfer from a hosted solution to a premises-based solution easier because the software a customer already owns can simply be installed on new servers and the content migrated.
Failover Services are for customers that have in-house OnBase solutions, but want the disaster recovery/business continuity advantages of online backup and recovery. OnBase Hosted Disaster Recovery Services offer options for a Hosted Disaster Recovery Site as well as emergency onsite recovery. In the event of an emergency, subscribers to these services would be able to provide users with access to a hosted restoration of their OnBase systems from any location through a secure Web client.
